Joe Mack, C, Marlins: Over the last season and a half, Mack has made it clear that he deserves a spot among the prospects in baseball. He was an offensive force in the pitcher-friendly Southern League, and has kept on mashing since moving to highest level of the minor leagues. He added another exhibit of evidence on Tuesday, when he swatted a pair of home runs against Charlotte as part of a 4-for-4 effort that included two singles as well. He has 10 longballs for the season.

High-A West Michigan: Just two organizations this year—the Mariners and the Tigers—can boast three representatives in the upcoming Futures Game. Detroit's delegation comes with a twist: All of them can be found in one lineup, with High-A West Michigan in the Midwest League. On Tuesday, those three—shortstop Kevin McGonigle, outfielder Max Clark and catcher Josue Briceño—were up to their usual tricks. Collectively, they racked up seven hits, five runs, a double, a home run and four walks. The double belonged to Briceño. The home run was Clark's seventh of the season. McGonigle's three-hit game was his seventh of the year at High-A with that total or higher.

Edward Florentino, OF, Pirates: Last year, Florentino was one of the brightest prospects in the Dominican Summer League. This year, he's upped his game a notch or two. After bulldozing the competition in the Florida Complex League, Florentino moved to full-season ball on June 21. He's faced stiffer tests in the Florida State League, but on Tuesday he took further steps toward achieving his upside. Facing Fort Myers, Florentino went 3-for-3 and fell a triple shy of the cycle. The home run was a majestic blast, a 106 mph searing liner over the wall in the left-center field alleyway. It was his first FSL home run. He also stole a base.

Carter Jensen, C, Royals: Lately, quite a bit has gone Jensen's way. A week ago, he was promoted to Triple-A. On the last day of June, he was named one of Kansas City's two representatives for this year's Futures Game. On Tuesday, he celebrated with his first multi-homer game of the season. Both of his blasts left the bat hotter than 106 mph, and his second of the day eclipsed the 110 mph mark. The 21-year-old began the season as one of the youngest players in the Texas League and now stands as one of just seven players his age or younger to take the field in the International League.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Emil Morales, SS, Dodgers: The game-time temperature at Camelback Ranch on Tuesday was 111 degrees. In other words, a mere fraction of the heat that has been emanating from Emil Morales' bat over the last month. On Monday, he closed June by going 3-for-3, putting a cap on a 21-game stretch that saw him slash .365/.460/.565 with three home runs and 13 RBIs. The calendar has flipped to July, but Morales doesn't appear to have turned the page. He opened the new month by going 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two walks. The effort extended a hitting streak that now stretch seven games, five of which have included two or more knocks.
