Plus: Three notable Monday promotions, including the MiLB strikeout leader.

Jackson Cox, RHP, Rockies: The Rockies are promoting Cox, the minor league strikeout leader, to Double-A Hartford.
The 22-year-old righthander made 11 appearances (10 starts) for High-A Spokane, recording a 4.23 ERA with 78 strikeouts in 55.1 innings. Cox's home ballpark plays hitter-friendly, and it shows in his elevated WHIP of 1.27 and home run rate of 1.5 per nine innings.
Cox has a sturdy four-pitch mix, headlined by a mid-90s fastball, slider and sweeper. He continues to gain comfort in throwing a high-80s changeup.
The Rockies drafted Cox in the second round in 2022 out of Toutle Lake High in Washington. He missed the second half of 2023 and all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Denzer Guzman, SS/3B, Angels: Guzman made his MLB debut last September and appeared in 13 games for the Angels. Now, he's back on his way to Anaheim following a successful start to the season at Triple-A Salt Lake.
The 22-year-old Guzman batted .336/.403/.571 with 12 home runs and nine stolen bases in 58 games for Salt Lake. He led the Pacific Coast League with 80 hits, ranked second with 136 total bases and placed fourth with a .974 OPS.
Guzman has dramatically improved his zone-contact rate this season and curbed his overall swinging-strike rate, making him a more dangerous all-around hitter than he was last season.
Guzman is an above-average defensive shortstop, with the versatility and arm to play third base, where he will likely concentrate for the Angels.
Michael Forret, RHP, Rays: Forret pitched to a 2.15 ERA with Double-A Montgomery that ranked second in the Southern League. The Rays are challenging the 22-year-old with a promotion to Triple-A Durham.
Forret made 10 starts for Montgomery and logged 54.1 innings while striking out 56 and walking 22. He draws a healthy rate of whiffs from five pitch types: four-seam fastball, cutter, changeup, sweeper and two-seamer. He pitches at 94 mph and tops out near 97.
The Rays acquired Forret—and three other prospects—from the Orioles in the offseason Shane Baz trade. Baltimore drafted him out of junior college in the 14th round in 2023.
Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.
Jhomnardo Reyes, OF, Twins: Reyes isn’t currently in the Twins’ Top 30, but that will change when we next update the list, as not only is he going to move onto the list, but he’ll move up it considerably. Reyes didn’t appear in spring training games due to an injury, so there wasn’t much of a track record to go on coming into the regular season beyond his Dominican Summer League performance from 2025. Since the Florida Complex League season started, the 6-foot-3 lefthanded-hitting outfielder has dominated. So far, Reyes is hitting .345/.463/.727 with four home runs, 11 walks and only 12 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances. Most encouragingly, his underlying data matches that production and more. He already produces high-end exit velocities and pairs them with strong contact skills and an advanced approach for his age. His data would be impressive for any prospect, let alone an 18-year-old. Industry feedback has been extremely positive, as well, and backs up his strong stat line and data, with several scouts seeing him as one of the top prospects in the league. The Twins’ 2025 international class looked promising entering the season, and now even more so after the breakout of Reyes, who looks to be the top prospect in that group.

Prospect news and notes from around baseball…
A year ago, the Marlins aggressively assigned Andrew Salas to Low-A Jupiter at 17 years old, where he posted a .564 OPS over 104 games. Things didn’t go much better in his return to the level this year, where he slashed .170/.268/.252 through 43 games. The club sent Salas back to the Complex League and he has fared much better, homering twice on Monday.
