Jac Caglianone, 1B/OF, Royals: As first reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Royals are calling up Caglianone, who has sped through the minors, showing the same jaw-dropping power he demonstrated at Florida. The Royals' 2024 first-rounder hit .322/.389/.593 this year between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He has 15 home runs in just 50 games.

Caglianone's power will be a big addition to what has been a very punchless Royals' outfield. No Royals hitter has 10 home runs, and no Royals outfielder has more than Kyle Isbel's three home runs. Caglianone has had two different weeks where he hit more than three home runs.

If there is any concern with Caglianone's promotion, it will be his lack of experience in the outfield. The Royals have been working extensively with his defense, but he has just 14 games in the outfield as a pro.

Seaver King, SS, Nationals: The Nationals are promoting King to Double-A Harrisburg, according to multiple reports, including King himself on Instagram. The Nationals' 2024 first-round pick has posted modest numbers overall at High-A Wilmington, but his season started poorly and has improved recently. King is hitting .263/.307/.380 overall. He hit .233/.300/.356 in April and .291/.321/.408 in May. King had a 33% strikeout rate in April, but only a 12.7% strikeout rate in May.

Austin Overn, OF, Orioles: Few hitters have done a better job of using their legs to manufacture a run than what Overn did for High-A Delmarva on Sunday. In a tie game, Overn beat out a bunt single in the sixth inning. He then stole second, and followed that by stealing third. He waited there, but after a flyout gave Brooklyn a second out, he decided to finish the job himself. Newly entered reliever Dakota Hawkins had a somewhat deliberate delivery, so Overn took off and stole home for his 19th steal of the season. Overn completely manufactured the run with his speed. He's hitting .225/.321/.355 with 19 steals in 22 attempts.

Trey Gibson, RHP, Orioles: In the same game, Gibson threw one of the more dominating games of the 2025 season as he struck out 13 over six innings. He allowed two runs on two hits and he didn't walk a batter. Gibson's breaking balls dominated the Cyclones' lineup as he racked up called strikes for strike three with his bigger curveball, and ate lefthanded hitters up with his slider. Gibson struck out seven of the first nine batters he faced and it took 11 batters before anyone got the ball out of the infield. A two-run Chris Suero homer in the fourth got Brooklyn on the board, but Gibson responded by retiring the final seven batters he faced, including striking out the side in the sixth. Gibson has been homer prone this year, which in part explains his 5.12 ERA, but he's also missed bushels of bats. This is his third double-digit strikeout game of the season and he's struck out 40% of batters he's faced.

Carson Williams, SS, Rays: While fans may have been clamoring for Williams to make the Rays out of spring training, the Rays expected that Williams would spend most or all of this year at Triple-A Durham. That seems even more true now, as Williams' first two months of the season have been brutal at the plate. Williams came into Sunday's game having hit .141 in April and .178 in May. Sunday showed some rays of hope. Williams went 3-for-5 with a double and a homer. It was only his second three-hit game of the year. Williams is now hitting .185/.284/.370.

C.J. Kayfus, 1B, Guardians: Kayfus' promotion to Triple-A Columbus has done nothing to slow down his impressive season. Kayfus went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles on Sunday for his third multi-hit game in the past four games. Kayfus is now hitting .330/.402/.553 since he reached Columbus and he's hitting .343/.431/.568 overall this year. This is nothing new for Kayfus. He's a career .303/.407/.529 MiLB hitter, but this year he's been even better than that.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Kevin Defrank, RHP, Marlins: Defrank was one of the best pitchers in the 2025 class when the Marlins signed him for $560,000 out of the Dominican Republic and his stuff has only become more electric since then. He has a great pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds with broad shoulders and entered the year already reaching 95 mph. In preseason games, Defrank has been up to 100 mph, extraordinary velocity for a pitcher who will be 16 nearly the entire season. His lively changeup has plus potential and he shows feel to spin a slider that needs refinement but shows promise as well. Defrank has explosive stuff and good body control on the mound for a young pitcher his size, making for an exciting, high-upside starter look if he can handle the workload.
