Jonah Tong, RHP, Mets: All season long, Tong has been outstanding. He turned in a standout effort in one of the team's Spring Breakout games, and he's been a monster at Double-A all year long. His latest gem came against Somerset, which countered fellow prospect Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz. Tong went five strong, blanking the Patriots on three hits and two walks. He struck out eight, bringing his season total to 154 in 97 innings. His ERA drops to 1.58 as well.
Juan Sanchez, 3B/SS, Blue Jays: As the Dominican Summer League season winds down, Sanchez has emerged as one of the circuit's best hitters. He continued to show his skills on Tuesday, when he went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple and finished a home run short of the cycle. The output gives him 21 extra-base hits on the year, a total that places him fifth in the league.
Dylan Beavers & Samuel Basallo, Orioles: The Orioles' season hasn't gone anywhere near as well as the team or its fans would like. Star players have been injured, ineffective or both, and they were sellers at the deadline. One look at Norfolk's roster should provide at least a glimmer of hope ... or two. That was particularly true in the Tides' series opener with Rochester. The team's two biggest sluggers—Beavers and Basallo—helped their team ground the Red Wings. Together, the pair went 5-for-9 with six runs and six RBIs. Beavers hit a pair of home runs and Basallo added a pair of doubles and a longball of his own.
Jesús Made & Luis Peña, Brewers: Infielders Made and Peña, the two best Brewers prospects still in the minor leagues, were promoted from Low-A Carolina to High-A Wisconsin after last week's action, and it didn't take them long to make some noise with their new club. Peña got the ball rolling early by homering in his first at-bat as a Timber Rattler. The blast was his seventh of the season and came as part of a 1-for-4 day that also included a walk. Made got on the board later, lashing a triple for his first High-A hit. He went 1-for-5 with a run and three strikeouts.
Walker Jenkins, OF, Twins: Walker Jenkins is healthy, which means Walker Jenkins is hitting. He was one of the best hitters last week, and he started this week off with a bang as well. The 20-year-old outfielder slammed yet another home run—his sixth Double-A blast–in Tuesday's series-opening game against Northwest Arkansas. Four of those homers have come since July 27. Oddly enough, he's homered every other day since that date. Can he keep up the pattern? Check back Thursday.
Dakota Jordan, OF, Giants: In 25 days, Oregon will open its college football season at Autzen Stadium against Montana State. Not the most enticing matchup in the world, but Jordan is making it very clear he wants to get to Eugene in plenty of time for kickoff. How else would you explain his sizzling stretch at San Jose, which continued on Tuesday with a pair of home runs in his team's rout of Visalia. The bombs were Jordan's 13th and 14th of the year, boosting him into a tie with since-promoted Dodgers prospect Eduardo Quintero for the Cal League lead. His 113 hits are also tops in the league.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, RHP, Yankees: The Yankees moved Rodriguez-Cruz—whom they acquired from the Red Sox in the offseason—to Double-A on July 11 after a dominant turn in High-A. Since moving up level, he's only gotten better. The righthander outdueled Mets top prospect Jonah Tong in a Tuesday matinee that saw Rodriguez-Cruz spin one of his finest outings of the year. In all, he lasted seven shutout innings, allowed just two hits and two walks and struck out eight. The outing was the fourth time Rodriguez-Cruz has gone seven complete frames and it was the seventh time he'd finished a game with eight or more strikeouts.

A pair of deadline acquisitions, Adam Serwinowski (Dodgers) and Blade Tidwell (Giants) pitched well in their first outings with the new clubs. Serwinowski struck out nine High-A batters over 6.1 scoreless innings, while Tidwell struck out eight and allowed two runs over five innings with Triple-A Sacramento.
Jacob Misiorowski threw a bullpen session yesterday as he works his way back from a tibia injury.
