Owen Caissie, OF, Cubs: After two long years in Triple-A, Caissie is reportedly being called up by the Cubs to the major leagues on Thursday. Caissie has hit .289/.389/.566 with 22 home runs over 93 games for Triple-A Iowa this season. A Top 100 Prospect, Caissie has been one of the most impressive hitters in the minors since June, as he’s in the midst of a serious hot streak. The 23-year-old brings easy plus power, on-base skills and the ability to play an average corner outfield. There are still questions around his bat-to-ball ability, but he’s consistently shown enough contact to get to his power so far throughout his professional career. A native Canadian, Caissie will debut in his home country, as the Cubs wrap up a three-game road series against the Blue Jays.

Nolan McLean, RHP, Mets: McLean, the 40th-ranked prospect in baseball and the Mets’ top pitching prospect, is scheduled to make his MLB debut on Saturday. SNY’s Andy Martino was first to report the news. McLean began the season at Double-A Binghamton, but he quickly earned a promotion by going 3-1, 1.37 in five starts. He’s 5-4, 2.81 in 83.1 innings at Triple-A Syracuse with a 10.2% walk rate and 26.3% strikeout rate. A big (6-foot-4) righty, McLean has blossomed after switching to a full-time focus on pitching. He was a two-way player at Oklahoma State and hit early in his pro career. His sweeper is a weapon, and it pairs well with his mid-90s fastball. The Mets could use a boost from McLean. They have moved Frankie Montas to the bullpen, and the rotation has lacked stability behind Kodai Senga and David Peterson.

Kevin McGonigle, SS, Tigers: There’s not much McGonigle can’t do. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old hit his third home run of the week in grand fashion. After swatting a pair of home runs in Erie’s opening game of their series with Chesapeake, McGonigle hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth on Wednesday. The homer would prove to be the difference in Erie’s 8-6 victory over the BaySox. McGonigle is hitting .299/.394/.598 over 23 games with Double-A Erie and looks like a potential rookie of the year candidate heading into 2026.

Robby Snelling, LHP, Marlins: After a down season in 2024, Snelling has enjoyed a true renaissance in 2025. On Wednesday, the 21-year-old lefthander continued his dominance of Triple-A, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings. Snelling has shown improved fastball velocity and shape along with more variation in his secondaries this season, as he’s now mixing in a slider along with his plus curveball and changeup. Snelling is certainly making a strong case for a September callup and could see a start or two in the big leagues with the Marlins to end the season. After winning BA’s Minor League Pitcher Of The Year Award in 2023, Snelling is a dark horse candidate to win it again in 2025.

Sal Stewart, 3B, Reds: Stewart has long had his doubters, but right now, most of them are pretty quiet. On Wednesday, Stewart once again led the charge for Louisville in their 14-2 rout of Gwinnett, going 4-for-6 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Even more remarkable was that all five of Stewart’s RBIs came by the fifth inning. While there are legitimate positional questions around Stewart’s long-term future, there’s no denying his combination of plus hitting ability and above-average power.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Ixan Henderson, LHP, Cardinals: Henderson was something of an afterthought entering the season, but after a spectacular 2025 campaign, he’s now ranked among the team’s best pitching prospects. On Wednesday, Henderson kept the good times rolling, as he tossed six no-hit innings before a home run by Kala’i Rosario spoiled things in the top of the seventh. Before that, the 21-year-old lefthander had sat down 18 of the 20 batters faced. Henderson ended up going 6.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out eight. Henderson has a back-of-the-rotation profile that dazzles opposing hitters with a deep pitch mix, deception and command.
