Prospect Standouts
Xavier Isaac, 1B, Rays: Isaac is a big man with power to match. On Thursday, he let it eat in both games of Bowling Green’s doubleheader against Greensboro. In the first game, the hulking first baseman went 1-for-1 with a run, a stolen base and two walks in the seven-inning contest. Turns out, that was just an appetizer. In the nightcap, Isaac went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs. The home runs brought his season total to five in that department.
Zac Veen, OF, Rockies: After a rough 2023 season that culminated in surgery, Veen is back at Double-A Hartford and making up for lost time. On Thursday, the Florida high school product went 4-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base. The effort was Veen’s second four-hit game of the season and seventh multi-hit game. It brought his season slash line up to a sizzling .342/.441/.633 with five home runs, 11 RBIs and eight stolen bases in nine tries.
James Wood, OF, Nationals: It’s no secret that Wood has game-changing power. Through the first 27 games of the season, spanning March and April, he had just two home runs, which both came in the same game. He hit two more on Wednesday, then added another blast on Thursday, giving him three in two days and five for the season. The latest longball was a skyscraper that carried 348 feet and out to right field off of Scranton starter Tanner Tully and was part of a 2-for-4 day for the 21-year-old.
Dylan Crews & Brady House, Nationals: The Harrisburg Senators’ lineups houses two of Washington’s top three prospects: outfielder Dylan Crews and third baseman Brady House. Both boppers went deep on Thursday night in their team’s blanking of New Hampshire. House hit his home run in the second inning off of starter Adam Macko while Crews did his damage against reliever Adrian Hernandez. The blasts were the sixth and third of the year, respectively, for House and Crews.
Chase Dollander, RHP, Rockies: So far, Dollander has had no issue with the Northwest League. Colorado’s first-round pick from 2023 out of Tennessee has carved through High-A with ease, including another gem on Thursday. Facing Hillsboro, the righthander allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10. The effort was his second with double-digit strikeouts this season, and he’s got 43 total Ks over 24.1 innings with Spokane. His 23 whiffs on Tuesday was the high-water mark for the entirety of High-A.
The Twins Find An Interesting UDFA

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Carson McCusker, OF, Twins: Yesterday, Baseball America’s Geoff Pontes looked at the five hitters displaying the best raw power in the minor leagues based on 90th percentile exit velocity. You probably weren’t expecting McCusker’s name to lead the list. The Twins outfielder took an unusual path to pro ball and still needs to improve his bat-to-ball skills, but the elite power is quite intriguing.
