Marcelo Mayer, 2B, Red Sox: In the Red Sox's Spring Breakout game, a national audience saw Mayer show off his power stroke. On Wednesday, he added a little speed with his impact. The 22-year-old manned second base in the big league game and reached base twice, including a triple—his second of the spring—and a walk. The output brings Mayer's Grapefruit League line to 11-for-31 with a pair of triples and a home run.

Dylan Crews, OF, Nationals: Crews is one of the finest prospects in the sport. He and fellow young outfielder James Wood form a comic book superhero-level duo that heretofore shall be known as the D.C. Marvels. On Wednesday, Crews showed off the thump in his bat by smacking his second triple of the spring. The hit, which came off of Steven Matz, was Crews' 14th hit of the Grapefruit League. Both of his extra-base hits have been triples.

Alejandro Osuna, OF, Rangers: Osuna had an excellent 2024 season. Between High-A and Double-A, he hit .292/.362/.507 with 18 home runs. The latter stat was especially impressive considering he'd entered the season with 20 homers for his career. He continued the breakout in the Arizona Fall League, where he added eight more doubles and two more longballs to his ledger. The calendar has flipped, but Osuna is still partying like it's 2024. He got one at-bat against Seattle on Wednesday, but he made the most of it by racking his fourth double (and 13th hit) of the spring.

Jasson Dominguez, OF, Yankees: Dominguez is the team's No. 1 prospect and has a line on the Opening Day job in left field. Hitting in the No. 2 spot on Wednesday against the Phillies, he showed why he was one of New York's most celebrated prospects in recent memory. He faced Taijuan Walker three times and came away with three hits, including a pair of singles and a double. All three of his hits produced exit velocities of better than 105 mph, including a bolt of 108.8 mph on his double. Dominguez is 14-for-50 this spring with three homers.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Gunnar Hoglund, RHP, Athletics: Hoglund’s recovery from 2021 Tommy John surgery was a long, winding road. But the A’s righty bounced back in 2024, then used another healthy offseason to make some alterations to his arsenal. His velocity has ticked up this spring, and Hoglund now looks like he’ll make an impact in the majors this season, as Geoff Pontes details here.
