Kendall George, OF, Dodgers: On the same day he was crowned High-A Midwest League player of the month for August, George joined an exclusive club by stealing his 100th base of the season on Thursday, Sept. 4. In a game at Lake County, the 20-year-old went 3-for-4 with a walk while stealing four bases and scoring a run. The Dodgers drafted George in the first round in 2023 out of high school in Texas. In 111 games this season he's hitting .295/.409/.370 with three home runs and 101 steals. The Rays' Chandler Simpson swiped 104 bases in the minor leagues last season, but no player had reached the century mark before that since the Reds' Billy Hamilton stole minor league record 155 in 2012. George is also getting it done at the plate. He was one of 10 prospects Geoff Pontes identified with standout Statcast data in August.

Brandon Sproat, RHP, Mets: The Triple-A Syracuse righthander is joining rookies Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong in the Mets' rotation. New York announced that it will call up the 24-year-old Sproat to make his MLB debut in a start at Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 7. The 2023 second-rounder out of Florida turned his season around after a rough start in the International League. Sproat has been on a role since late June after diversifying his arsenal. In 11 appearances since June 28, he owns a 2.44 ERA and .163 opponent average with 70 strikeouts and 21 walks in 59 innings. He was named IL pitcher of the month for July. The big changes for Sproat have been throwing more four-seam fastballs, curveballs and changeups—while downplaying his sinker and sweeper—to combat lefthanded batters.
Rainiel Rodriguez, C, Cardinals: A busy season for the Cardinals 18-year-old catcher continues with High-A Peoria, where Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with four RBIs in a Sept. 4 game at Beloit while making his debut at the level. All three hits were singles, the third coming in the ninth inning in a two-strike count. Rodriguez began the season in the Florida Complex League before advancing to Low-A Palm Beach on June 3. In 81 games this season at three levels he's hitting .280/.407/.567 with 20 home runs and 63 RBIs. Rodriguez has caught 57 games this season, while adding another 24 starts at DH.
Travis Bazzana, 2B, Guardians: The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft, Bazzana opened his time for Triple-A Columbus with a 12-for-66 (.182) showing at the plate. The tide may be turning for the 23-year-old Oregon State product. Bazzana hit a walk-off home run—his first at Triple-A—versus Indianapolis as part of 3-for-4 day at the plate that included a walk, two runs and two RBIs. In 78 games this season he's batting .244/.385/.403 with six home runs and 11 stolen bases.
Travis Bazzana in the clutch 😤

Cam Caminiti, LHP, Braves: Forearm tendinitis kept Caminiti out of action for the first two months of the season, but as his pitch counts have climbed into the 90 range for Low-A Augusta, his effectiveness has increased with it. On Sept. 4, Caminiti shut down visiting Kannapolis for six innings, allowing two hits—both singles—and no runs while striking out seven and walking three. He threw 66% of pitches for strikes. He was similarly dominant in his last start: six innings, four hits, one run, two walks, nine strikeouts. The Braves drafted Caminiti in the first round in 2024 out of high school in Arizona.
Cam Caminiti 🔥
The Braves’ No. 1 prospect racked up seven K’s over six innings for the @GreenJackets tonight.
He has a 2.08 ERA at Low-A this season and has allowed just one run across his last 12 innings 👀

Billy Amick, 3B, Twins: Despite ranking No. 29 in the 2024 draft class, Amick fell to 60th overall in last year's draft when the Twins signed him out of Tennessee. His first full season has been a frustrating stretch of starts and stops. Amick missed two months with an oblique injury, then missed all of August with a dislocated shoulder before returning this week. He has hit for average (.304/.415/.440) in 52 games with High-A Cedar Rapids and even encouraged the Twins internally with his defense at third base. But those injuries have likely contributed to his limited power production. That changed on Thursday, when Amick hit a pair of homers, including an extra-innings blast, to help Cedar Rapids to a 9-5 win. Amick doubled his season home run total (four) in the process.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.
Zach Ehrhard, OF, Dodgers: The Red Sox drafted Ehrhard twice--once in the 13th round out of high school, then again in the fourth round out of Oklahoma State last year after he chose to go to college--and he was on the rise in the first half of the year, impressing enough in High-A to earn a promotion to the upper minors and a spot on Boston's midseason Top 30 Prospects after entering the season unranked. Ehrhard posted a .717 OPS in 58 games with Double-A Portland, then Boston dealt him to the Dodgers alongside James Tibbs III at the deadline for Dustin May.
Ehrhard seems to like Tulsa just fine. He hit a grand slam Thursday as part of a 3-for-4 day that included a double and five RBIs. He's now hitting .291/.401/.466 with more walks (17) than strikeouts (15) and 11 steals in 27 games with Tulsa. Ehrhard has actually outperformed Tibbs since they both joined their new org. May, meanwhile, has a 5.40 ERA through 28.1 innings in Boston and will be a free agent this winter. Keep an eye on Ehrhard's combination of solid plate skills, speed and emerging power now that he's in the Dodgers' development program.
Zach Ehrhard with a GRAND SLAM!!!💣
