Plus: Pirates-White Sox deal, 5 standout performers from Sunday's slate

Pirates-White Sox Trade: The White Sox acquired righthander José Urquidy, who was recently designated for assignment by the Pirates, in exchange for rookie-ball righthander Felix Doroteo.
After an excellent stint as a starter with the Astros in the early 2020s, Urquidy has struggled mightily since returning from 2024 Tommy John surgery. Urquidy was 0-0, 7.71 with the Tigers last year and 0-1, 8.53 with 15 hits allowed in 6.1 innings for the Pirates for a hard-to-believe .441/.472/.647 opponents slash line.
So as expected, the return is modest. Doroteo went 3-2, 4.50 in 16 appearances, all but one of them in relief, with the ACL White Sox this season. He struck out 29.6% of batters while walking 13.5%.
Doroteo is a tall and skinny 6-foot-6, 195-pound righthander who stays upright in his delivery, but he lacks consistency repeating it. His fastball will range from 92-99 mph, another example of how he has potential but will need to repeat his delivery better for it to be effective. He has a hard, short slider.
Jesus Pinto, OF, Tigers: Pinto went 4-for-6 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base on Sunday for Low-A Lakeland, recording the first four-hit game of his career.
Pinto's first hit was a hard-hit single up the middle that was knocked down by the infielder but still found its way into center field. He followed with a bloop single that fell into no-man's land behind the shortstop and in front of the left and center fielders.
His third hit was an infield single, as he beat out a ground ball with a 29.1 feet-per-second sprint speed. He then added a pair of hard-hit balls to cap his day: a 105 mph groundball single and a 106 mph double down the left field line.
Pinto is now hitting .257/.336/.378 with five home runs and 14 stolen bases in 73 games.
Luis De Leon, LHP, Orioles: When De Leon allowed 10 earned runs in just 2.1 innings for Double-A Chesapeake on June 5, it sent his ERA soaring to 6.80. Since then, however, De Leon has offered plenty of reminders of why he's one of the top pitching prospects in the Orioles' system.
De Leon held Erie to four hits, one walk and one run while striking out nine over 6.1 innings on Sunday. It was his fourth consecutive start allowing one run or fewer, and he now owns a 0.73 ERA this month.
Sitting in the mid 90s, De Leon spotted his fastball well, but also had Erie hitters struggling to pick up his changeup.
Sammy Stafura, SS, Pirates: Injuries have limited Stafura to just 45 games this season, but you wouldn't know it from his counting stats.
Stafura went 2-for-6 with a pair of home runs on Sunday for High-A Greensboro. It was his 11th and 12th homers of the month, giving him 17 on the season to go along with 15 stolen bases.
Stafura's first homer traveled 409 feet in the sixth inning, clearing the grassy berm beyond the left field fence. An inning later, he added a two-run shot into the bullpen beyond the left-center field fence.
Despite playing just 45 games, Stafura ranks second on Greensboro in home runs and is tied for seventh in the South Atlantic League. His .638 slugging percentage would easily lead the league if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.
Charles Davalan, OF, Dodgers: Davalan went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs on Sunday for High-A Great Lakes, raising his on-base percentage above .400 for the season and finishing a double shy of the cycle.
Davalan has been one of the hottest hitters in the Midwest League this month, batting .353/.450/.794 in July.
After lining out in the first inning, Davalan yanked a line drive down the right field line for a stand-up triple in the third. He then crushed a no-doubt home run—his 16th of the season—that reached the street beyond the right field fence. According to the Lansing broadcast, the ball even cleared a truck driving down the street. Davalan followed with a line-drive single to center field in his next at-bat.
He had a chance to complete the cycle in the eighth inning but popped out to second base.
Blake Burke, 1B, Brewers: Burke went 3-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBIs against Double-A Chattanooga on Sunday.
It was Burke's 25th and 26th home runs of the season. His second effectively put the game away in the 10th inning. Biloxi had already scored three runs in the top of the frame, but Burke's three-run homer extended the Shuckers' lead to 13-7, and they held on for the win.
Both of Burke's home runs were yanked down the right field line. His first was a majestic fly ball, while his second was a screaming line drive that barely gave fans time to react.
Burke is now hitting .274/.362/.598 this season.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.
Anderson Areinamo, SS, Astros: The FCL Astros are one win away from the Florida Complex League championship after Areinamo went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs in a 7-1 win over the FCL Rays.
The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and held it into the fifth, but starter Xavier Palma began to run out of gas. Luis Quesada doubled, Jase Mitchell walked and Luis Rives singled to load the bases with one out.
Landon Arroyos followed with an RBI single, and Areinamo then hit a ground ball deep in the hole that Rays shortstop Andreimi Ortiz fielded but could not turn into an out, allowing the tying run to score. Luis De Leon followed with a two-run single to give the Astros a 4-1 lead.
Areinamo added two insurance runs in the ninth with a double off the left-center field wall against a 97 mph fastball from Angel Castillo.
The teams will resume the best-of-three championship series on Monday. The Astros advanced by defeating the FCL Orioles 7-0 on Saturday, while the Rays earned their berth with a 4-2 win over the FCL Blue Jays.
