Dorian Soto, SS, Red Sox: Soto was Boston's highest-profile signee in the international period that opened on Jan. 15, 2025. On Tuesday, he provided two sizable pieces of evidence as to why the Red Sox would want to add him to their already-stuffed system. The switch-hitting shortstop socked the first two home runs of his professional career in his team's win over their counterparts with the Braves. The longballs were part of a 3-for-5 effort that also included three RBIs.

Johan De Los Santos, SS, Pirates: The highest bonus the Pirates awarded in the most recent international signing period went to shortstop Johan De Los Santos, the younger brother of fellow Pittsburgh prospect Yordany De Los Santos. The younger player, who will not turn 17 until July 24, has hit the ground running in his pro debut. On Tuesday, he went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases in his team's win over the Tigers. He is now 7-for-22 to begin the season in the Dominican Summer League.

Yandel Ricardo, SS, Royals: Last summer, Ricardo turned heads as one of the best players in the Dominican Summer League. He's doing it again this summer in the Arizona Complex League. Ricardo's latest feat included three hits and left him a triple shy of the cycle. The home run was his second of the season, and the effort overall stands as his fourth three-hit game of the year. In fact, it's his second-three hit game in five days.

Marlon Nieves, RHP, Dodgers: The Dodgers' system is already rich with interesting prospects, but there are a few more bubbling at the lowest levels of the minor leagues. One is Nieves, a righthander who pitches in the Arizona Complex League. Although he's been inconsistent from outing to outing this season, his best are dazzlers. That was the case on Tuesday, when the 20-year old spun five three-hit shutout innings against the Padres. He struck out seven and walked one. Nieves mainly works with four-seam, sinking and cutting fastballs, but will mix in a mid-80s slider and very occasional low-90s changeup. This season, he's struck out 33 but walked 20 in 34.1 innings.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Connelly Early, LHP, Red Sox: Early is one of the bigger up-arrow prospects in Boston's system. Tuesday's outing against Akron made the arrow a few typeface points bigger. Pitching at home, Early spun six one-run innings, allowed five hits, walked nobody and racked up eight strikeouts. The outing brings his total to 74 strikeouts in 49.2 innings. It was also his seventh start of the season with eight or more Ks.
