Deyvison De Los Santos Continues To Mash
Plus: Jonah Tong strikes out 11 and another Mariners 2023 draft gem emerges.

Prospect Standouts
David Festa, RHP, Twins: It’s been a banner year for Twins pitching prospects as many have taken a big step forward in 2024. Festa will make his debut for the Twins against the reigning NL Champion Diamondbacks today. Festa over 14 starts this season with Triple-A St. Paul is 3-2 with a 3.77 ERA, pitching to a 3.13 xFIP, while striking out 35.1% of batters he faced at Triple-A. Festa mixes a mid-90s four-seam with ride and cut with a mid-to-upper-80s slider and a changeup.
Aidan Smith, OF, Mariners: The Mariners cleaned up in the 2023 draft, and Smith is emerging as another young star from that class. Smith went 3-for-4 with two walks, reaching base five times on Wednesday. Smith filled up the stat sheet as he slugged a home run in his first at bat, and proceeded to hit a double, steal two bases and drive in two runs. Smith is hitting .258/.377/.433 with seven home runs and 20 stolen bases over 61 games.
Jonah Tong, RHP, Mets: Tong was one of April’s breakout pitching prospects in the lower minors. New York quickly promoted him to High-A Brooklyn in late April and he seems to be settling into the level quite nicely. Tong struck out 11 batters, tying his season high, while surrendering just three hits and one run over six innings Wednesday against Aberdeen. He generated 16 swings and misses. Tong has 56 strikeouts over 42.2 innings in High-A to go along with a 3.38 ERA, which is inflated by one outing where he failed to get out of the first inning. Tong joined our Hot Sheet show for a great interview earlier this season, where he explained how a velo spike and a new pitch helped unlock another level in 2024.
C.J. Kayfus, 1B, Guardians: The Guardians’ 2023 third-rounder looks like the Barry Bonds of Akron over two weeks in Double-A. Kayfus hit his fifth and sixth home runs with Double-A Akron in just 18 total games. Kayfus’ first home run came off of Tyler Samaniego in the seventh, as Kayfus hit a 84 mph slider to the rollercoaster in right field at Altoona. The ball left the bat at 102.3 mph. In Kayfus’ next at-bat in the ninth, the former Miami Hurricane took Eddy Yean deep for his second home run of the night. That one left the bat at 103.7 mph.
Deyvison De Los Santos, 1B/3B, D-backs: The D-backs’ slugger continues to punish baseballs in June. De Los Santos hit two homers Wednesday for Triple-A Reno. His fourth-inning blast was hit 108.1 mph and traveled an estimated 463 feet, the longest homer of the night in Triple-A. He followed that up with another homer in the seventh inning. Every ball De Los Santos put into play Wednesday was hit 99 mph or harder. He now owns a 1.085 OPS in June with hits in 19 of his 21 games.
Luke Keaschall, 2B, Twins: The Twins’ 2023 second-round pick hasn’t slowed down since he was promoted to Double-A a month ago. On Wednesday, Keaschall had two hits including a homer, scoring twice and driving in one. Keaschall is now hitting .308 on the season with nine home runs, and is one of the Twins’ bigger draft wins in years.
