Colson Montgomery, SS, White Sox: After a rough season at Triple-A Charlotte, Montgomery is using his second season in the Arizona Fall League to get himself back on the right track. That process continued on Wednesday, when the future South Side slugger unloaded on a pitch from Mesa starter Cooper Adams (Red Sox) and sent it not only over the fence in left field, but over the berm beyond the wall and on the way to the hotel parking lot which abuts the stadium. The blast was Montgomery's second of the Fall League.

Tre’ Morgan, 1B, Rays: Morgan put together a fine first full season as a pro, ascending from Low-A Charleston to Double-A Montgomery by season's end. Along the way, he posted a .324/.408/.483 slash line with 23 doubles, 10 home runs and 48 apiece of both walks and strikeouts. He scuffled somewhat in Double-A, but has gotten back on track in the Fall League. He finished Wednesday with a 3-for-4 afternoon which included a pair of doubles and three runs scored. The first double was the most impressive. Facing former Louisiana State teammate Grant Taylor—now a White Sox prospect—Morgan got a 99 mph fastball on the outer half of the plate and used his synapse-quick hands to lash it the the opposite way into the left field corner for his first double of the day. He is now 15-for-36 with six doubles, a triple and a home run.

Moises Ballesteros, C, Cubs: Ballesteros can hit. He proved it in the Southern League, where he clubbed nine home runs and finished his stint with an .867 OPS. He proved it again in the International League, just one step from the big leagues, where he hit 15 doubles and 10 home runs over 68 games. Now, he's proving it in the Arizona Fall League, where on Wednesday he doubled, homered and walked in his team's win over Glendale. He is now 15-for-40 with three doubles, three home runs and four walks in nine games.

Drew Gilbert, OF, Mets: A day after making history as the first player to initiate and win a checked-swing review, Gilbert made a different kind of impact. The former Astros prospect, who was dealt to New York in the summer of 2023 in the deal which sent Justin Verlander to Queens, cracked a pair of home runs in Scottsdale's narrow loss to Peoria. The outfielder also added a single as part of a 3-for-4 day. Gilbert's longballs came in the fifth inning off of Brewers righthander Nick Merkel and in the ninth off of Marlins lefty Justin Storm. Both blasts were two-run shots.
