Caglianone, Kurtz Show Off Their Power
Plus: 7 prospects headline our Friday BAPR, including the Mets' version of the bash brothers.
Jac Caglianone, 1B, Royals: It’s no secret that Caglianone has big-time power. In case it needed reinforcing, however, he used Thursday’s tilt to provide two more pieces of evidence. Facing Peoria, Caglianone went deep twice as part of a 3-for-5 effort with three RBIs and three runs scored. He also singled. Both of his home runs were hit at 106 mph or harder, and his single checked in with an exit velocity of 117 mph. He now has three home runs in the Fall League.
Make it TWO HR’s for Jac Caglianone @Royals who is just destroying mistakes. Wouldn’t be shocked if both HRs combined for 900 feet #ProspectOne

Nick Kurtz, 1B, Athletics: A’s 2024 first-round pick Nick Kurtz joined the Fall League for the second half of the season, and on Halloween he gave fans exactly four treats. The Wake Forest alum went 4-for-5 for Mesa, finishing a homer shy of the cycle. He also scored three times and drew a walk. The outburst doubled his AFL hit total.
Leodalis De Vries, SS, Padres: De Vries is the youngest player in the Arizona Fall League, having turned 18 just days after the first game of the six-week season. On Thursday, he put a fright into opposing pitchers—Zak Kent, specifically—by crushing his first home run of the AFL. The longball left the bat at 104 mph and traveled an estimated 415 feet.
Drew Gilbert & Jett Williams, Mets: The Mets’ version of the bash brothers were at it again in Arizona on Halloween. Facing Glendale, Williams and Gilbert each connected on home runs for their Scottsdale squad. Both players connected against Reds reliever Arij Fransen, Williams in the sixth inning and Gilbert a frame later. Williams also added a double and two stolen bases before the game was complete.
Niko Kavadas, 1B, Angels: Kavadas already has his big league debut under his belt. Now, in the Fall League, he’s making his case to return there on Opening Day. The campaign continued on Thursday, when he swatted two home runs as part of Mesa’s rout of Salt River. The homers were Kavadas’ fifth and sixth of the AFL, pushing him into a two-way tie with the Marlins’ Kemp Alderman for second on the circuit, one behind leader Josue Briceño of the Tigers.
