Baltimore's Embarrassment Of Riches At Triple-A
The Norfolk Tides yet again look like the most talented team in the minor leagues.

Prospect Standouts
Heston Kjerstad, OF, Orioles: Entering the 2023 season, the Norfolk Tides were the most talented team in the minor leagues. Entering the 2024 season, that appears to be the case once more. Their lineup on Tuesday was led by Jackson Holliday—the game’s No. 1 overall prospect—and buttressed by several more of the system’s finest prospects. This time, the star was Kjerstad, who swatted a pair of home runs in his team’s win over Charlotte. His second blast came in the ninth inning and helped give the Tides breathing room they’d need when Charlotte put forth a five-run frame.
Kjerstad was far from the only Orioles standout, though. Holliday led off with a homer for the second time this season. Connor Norby and Kyle Stowers each added homers as well. And lefty Cade Povich, who we featured on our Not Top 100 All-Prospect team last week, went six scoreless innings with five strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
Dustin Harris, OF, Rangers: With Justin Foscue on his way to the big league, Round Rock’s top offensive prospect is Harris, who came over from Oakland in a trade several years ago. The outfielder was 2-for-3 through the first six innings of the Express’ tilt with El Paso. The blasts were Harris first two of the season.
Yariel Rodriguez, RHP, Blue Jays: The Blue Jays tapped into the Cuban market this offseason when they signed free agent Yariel Rodriguez to a five-year deal. He made his pro debut on Tuesday with a four-inning start against Worcester. He finished with six strikeouts and just a walk as the only blemish on his ledger. Rodriguez brought his fastball up to 95 mph. He got six whiffs, including four on his fastball and two on his splitter.
Justin Foscue, IF, Rangers: The Rangers called up Foscue, their No. 4 prospect, on Tuesday. Foscue will help replace 3B Josh Jung, who sustained a fractured right wrist after being hit by a pitch while swinging on Monday night. The 25-year-old Foscue opened the season with Triple-A Round Rock and has historically shown a strong propensity to make contact in the upper levels, albeit with average power potential. He has yet to settle into one position defensively and may likely best fit at first base, but he also has experience at second and third as a professional.
