Chase Burns, RHP, Reds: In a year full of high-profile debuts from pitchers with unfair arsenals, Burns' first big league turn was high on the list of the most anticipated outings of the season. The lightning-armed righthander—who was the No. 2 overall pick a summer ago—leapt through the gates early at home against the Yankees. He struck out the side in the first inning and punched out six of the first seven hitters he faced. New York got to him for three runs in the fourth inning—including a home run from Ben Rice—but otherwise Burns was as advertised. He finished with eight strikeouts over five three-run frames. After one start, it looks like he'll give Cincinnati's roster another cornerstone.

Christian Moore, 2B, Angels: Burns wasn’t the only 2024 draft pick to impress. Moore, the eighth pick in last year’s draft, authored the best moment of his brief big league career so far, powering the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Red Sox in extras. Moore hit the game-tying home run in the eighth inning, then hit a two-run walk-off shot to beat Boston in the 10th. Moore’s outburst came exactly one year to the day after he helped Tennessee win the 2024 national championship. He has since sped to the big leagues, and while it has been an adjustment period for the infielder, who is now hitting .194 with three homers, Tuesday was certainly a bright spot.

Back-To-Back-To-Back: Three of the Dodgers' Top 30 prospects reside in the lineup in the Arizona Complex League. On Tuesday, they performed feats of strength to show why they'd earned such accolades. In the sixth inning against Kansas City, Emil Morales, Ching-Hsien Ko and Chase Harlan connected on back-to-back-back solo home runs against Jesus Oliveira. The longballs were the third of the summer for Ko and Harlan and the sixth for Morales.

Mike Sirota, OF, Dodgers: When the Dodgers acquired Sirota from the Reds, they were betting they could help him recapture the type of upside he showed when he was firmly in the mix to be taken with the No. 1 overall pick last summer. So far, so good. The outfielder has nestled in nicely at High-A Great Lakes, where he's part of a flock of talented prospects that also includes Zyhir Hope and Josue De Paula. Sirota collected three hits on Tuesday, including his fifth home run since joining the Midwest League, drove in three runs, scored twice and worked a walk.

Travis Sykora, RHP, Nationals: All season long, Sykora has been one of the most outright filthy pitchers in the minor leagues. That was true again on Tuesday, when he outdueled Hudson Valley righthander and Yankees prospect Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz over six shutout innings. Sykora allowed two hits and two walks and punched out eight. By going six full frames, Sykora also racked up his longest outing of the season. He now has 70 strikeouts against just 11 walks over 49.2 frames.

Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, RHP, Yankees: Even though he came up on the losing end of a battle with Sykora, Rodriguez-Cruz added yet another stellar start in what has been an excellent season. The righthander—who came to New York in the trade that sent catcher Carlos Narvaez to Boston—finished his day with seven strikeouts over six one-run innings. In doing so, Rodriguez-Cruz ran his season strikeout total to 85 in 72 innings. He's been especially tremendous in June. Over four starts this month, he's allowed two earned runs in 24 frames and has struck out 28 hitters and issued eight walks.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day

Each day, we’ll pick a prospect that has our attention.

Nate George, OF, Orioles: When he was in the Florida Complex League, Nate George dominated. After moving to full-season ball, very little has changed. Baltimore's 16th-round choice from a year ago has hit the ground running with Low-A Delmarva, and on Tuesday he provided the sparks for an offensive explosion from the Shorebirds. Facing Carolina, George went 3-for-4 and fell a home run shy of the cycle. He also drew a walk and stole his eighth bag. He's 16-for-44 with Delmarva.
