Prospect Standouts
Yilber Diaz, RHP, D-backs: Diaz is one of the breakout pitching prospects early in 2024. He was impressive once again on Sunday for Double-A Amarillo. He held Frisco to two runs in 6.1 innings while walking no one and striking out eight. Diaz is striking out 41.3% of batters he’s faced this year, with an exceptional 62-to-17 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 41.1 innings.
Jairo Iriarte, RHP, White Sox: Earlier this week, Iriate struck out a career-high 11 batters against Double-A Chattanooga. He did two better on Sunday, picking up a career-high 13 strikeouts against the Lookouts. Iriarte did give up three runs, thanks largely to a two-run Miguel Hernandez home run, which was enough to saddle him with his second loss of the week. Iriarte is holding hitters to a .196 average and has 56 strikeouts in 43.2 innings.
Harry Ford, C, Mariners: Ford went 4-for-4 with a triple on Sunday for Double-A Arkansas. It was his first four-hit game of the season and his first since he went 4-for-5 on June 6, 2023. As usual, Ford has piled up walks this season. His 29 walks in 35 games help explain his robust .415 on-base percentage, but the athletic catcher has also tripled in each of the past two games.
Thayron Liranzo, C, Dodgers: It’s been a brutal start to the season for Liranzo with High-A Great Lakes. He began this week hitting right at .200, and then dipped to .198 with an 0-for-3 game on Tuesday. But Liranzo homered on Thursday, and then had his best game of the season on Sunday, hitting a pair of home runs to raise his slash line to .219/.355/.404.
Henry Bolte, OF, Athletics: Bolte went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and home run in High-A Lansing’s 13-9 loss to Lake County. Bolte picked up the three toughest parts of the cycle in his first three at-bats, giving him two chances at the cycle. But he grounded out in the sixth and then struck out in the eighth. It was still an exceptional game for the 20-year-old, who is now hitting .278/.402/.521.
Carson Williams, SS, Rays: Double-A Montgomery shortstop Carson Williams’ excellent season got a little better on Saturday. He homered twice, his sixth and seventh of the season, in the Biscuits’ 4-3 win over Pensacola. Williams is currently working on a six-game hitting streak and is hitting .346/.426/.631 overall.

10 Statcast Standouts (May 13)
Each Monday, we look at 10 standouts with impressive data from the previous week of action. Whereas last week focused on some premium prospects, this week we’re analyzing some players with less notoriety.
Twins RHP David Festa fits the bill. The 6-foot-6 righty has 48 strikeouts and 30 innings and is coming off one of the most effective outings of his career. We dig into Festa’s arsenal, including a slider that has a significant amount of gyro spin.

Baseball America Helium Pick Of The Day
Daniel Schneemann, UTIL, Guardians: Schneemann is RoboScout’s interesting unheralded name this week. Schneemann entered the Triple-A top 25 and has played shortstop, third base, right field, second base, and left field for Triple-A Columbus. After having never exceeded a 120 wRC+ at any previous level in any previous season, the 2018 33rd-round draft pick out of BYU has a 166 wRC+ with seven home runs and four stolen bases in 150 plate appearances. At face value, that translates to something like a 110 wRC+, 20 home run, and 10 stolen base equivalency in the major leagues. I expect that he will be called up to Cleveland this season and, if the season’s production is indicative of a true change in talent, he should be able to be a useful strong-side platoon production as a utility-type in fantasy.
